Superior Sunrise Poem

Lake Superior

The sun once again drew me to Her shores–

Her neon colors flooding windows

Painting walls warm.

I immediately stepped “Into the light”

As they say–

A barrier still separating.

So to the Lake

Like a magnet with inconceivable force,

I went–

To a beach swallowed whole

By sets as tall as I

And higher

Neon runways of light,

Narrow paths for weary souls–

Oblivion

Open eyes,

Hearts

Swallowed,

Spit out

Shaken to wake–

The path towards living whole.

Darkness needs neon,

A flooding and covering

Warm blanket

Of Presence.
